Our Company profile
Grafotec has been active in the flat glass industry since it was founded in 1983. At the beginning, a roller powder device (PDS) was developed that uses a “roller with a special surface” to apply an interleaving agent to the glass sheet with the help of gravity. Float glass manufacturers around the world today still use the devices supplied at that time.
In 1995 Grafotec expanded the glass division and in 1997 a nozzle-less liquid application device the LA C-Protection was brought into the market to delay the corrosion reaction of the glass with an acidic liquid.
The LA C-Protection system can also be used as LA Automotive to manufacture windshields for cars and trucks / buses and other vehicles. The LA Automotive can apply suspensions (liquid with Interleaving agent), which allows the interleaving agent to be brought between the “bending pair” so well that it doesn’t just prevent slipping, but even significantly improves the visual quality of the windshield. More complex panes with more difficult bending radii are easier to implement. In 2002, a nozzle sprayer successfully passed the field test.
The high level of interest for the Grafotec Advanced Powdersprayer (AP) series results from the flexible powder distribution. The AP flexibly adapt the powder application to a wide variety of glass widths and can be used for Solar glass, too. With special light curtains and the newest software we can offer full nozzle control and glass edge detection for a targeted powder application on undefined shaped glass, like triangle, rhombus etc. This also allows to use the AP for special production layouts with two streams of glass in asymmetrical alignment. The result is a high cost saving of the separating agent and especially in connection with an extraction system a clean working environment. Our dust collection system “DE” can protect customers from airborne interleaving dust (PMMA and acid particles) so that increasingly stringent environmental and health protection requirements are met.
Since the subject of quality is coming more and more into focus, electrostatics play an important role. Grafotec offers support on all questions and problems relating to this topic. Quality support is also provided with an automatic control of the release agent application by means of optical monitoring and the automatic correction of the powder application. Grafotec’s aim is to respond to requests in order to provide each customer with a suitable system tailored to their needs and circumstances.
